I taught the lesson today in our Gospel Principals Class. I usually team teach with Elder Boehrer. It was one of the best lessons we have had in a long time. Sister Bailey and Sister Gates took part of the lesson which was about using our talents wisely. They did a great job. At the end, they asked each of the class members to talk about what they feel are the talents they have been given – interesting. We started the lesson out with having everyone introduce themselves. One of them was Brother Whealen’s Dad (Brother Whealen is the Mission Leader of the Ward). He spoke of his conversion to the gospel and what he gave up to become a member of the church. His parent’s were strict Catholics – a wonderful church. When he told them he was joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, his Mother cried. He said that was the first time he ever saw his Mom cry. They told him that he was out of their family and not invited back. He was only twenty-three years old
