A Day of Service

Today was a Day of Service.  As church members we donated $ and collected food for two charities.  Elder Boehrer and I  volunteered to sit in front of the Giant Super Market at a table which had signs indicating that any food or money donated would go to a charity.  People were so kind and thanked us for our service and caring. 

I am sorry to say that because Elder Boehrer and I are new in the Ellicott City ward we are still trying to remember member's names.  Gosh, we’re lucky we remember how to get places . . .But, I do know that sister in front is Regina Barkdull,  standing next to her is her daughter and the man third from left is Brother Gardner. 

In this one I know that the man with his hand on his glasses his Don.  He was baptised a few weeks ago and is at almost every activity!

Tonight I attended the Relief Society broadcast.  It was, as usual, the best.  The main message was faith through the atonement of Jesus Christ.  Faith is the attribute we will be discussing during our Monday Morning devotional Meeting and it is my turn to be prepared to discuss the attribute of Christ, which happens to be faith.  Perfect.

I had to take these pictures of our office.  It is so beautiful outside right now, but it is the calm before the storm.  The thunder storms are already starting and the air is getting cooler. 

 

This is my desk and this is Sister Gibbons.  We sent these four pictures to our newest Senior Couple, the Jones’, who will be arriving on Monday. 

Today was Zone Conference Training.  Some of the Zone Leaders came by the office to pick up supplies and to take what we call the bullet (our grey church owned van) to Zone Conference.  Elder Gibbons bought donuts – they were gone fast

Elder Boehrer

Elder Boehrer stayed home today.  His left hip was really bothering him.  Probably too much walking.  We will go to the doctor and see if he should have an operation while out here or if we just have to be careful until we get home.  It is in the Lord’s hands.

The weather is changing.  You can feel Fall in the air.  Again, everyone, including the locals, say it’s going to be a brutal Winter.  We’ll see . . . could be freezing.

Senior Trip to Washington DC

 

Yep, we went to Washington DC today.  I almost felt I had already been there because there were so many places that I had seen in movies and on TV

First we had to go on the subway or transit.  It was just like in the movies.  I kept waiting for someone to try and jump on the track.

We got Elder Boehrer a wheelchair because his hip was acting up.  He enjoyed the ride

We had to wear headphones in order to hear our guide.  There were about 10 other groups that went through when we did.  I took a picture of the plaque put up to recognize those who lost their lives in the field of Pennsylvania and possibly saved the Capitol from being destroyed.

        

There was a statue of Brigham Young – nice.
