Family

I had a great phone visit with Danny, our second son.  I so enjoy talking with our children.  Each of them for different reasons.  I think that of all our children Danny is the son who always has positive things to say about everyone and everything.  He truly is without guile when it comes to others.  Yep, he is a jokester and likes pranks, but he is understanding and looks for the good in others.  When Dan was growing up he drove us crazy with his quick comebacks, his constant joking and playing around.  I will say that no one has quicker comebacks than Dan.  It is hard to one up him.   His second son, Bryce, is so much like him, that we always think “Ahh, yes, Dan, you are getting payback”.   It’s kind of nice to see your children finally understand what it was like trying to raise them.  You love them always, but gosh, it is nice to see how they react to the pranks, etc. that their children come up with.  We have two of our children, Dan and David, who live in Henderson, Nevada.  They are very close.  We love visiting both families.  Danny is the one in the red shirt.

Our children’s favorite pastime when we are all together as a family is to reminisce about what they did in their youth.  They think it is funny to see the reactions of Roy and I.  I sometimes tell them “I don’t want to hear it”.  Let me live in my fantasy world of thinking my children were perfect. . .Who me?

It has been a very productive day as far as my training at the mission office.  I think it will be fun once I understand all that I have to do.

I have included some pictures in this post that show you what it is like in the mission office when just some of the missionaries come by to get supplies, eat whatever snacks we have, and just to visit. I sometimes feel like I am back at home with our children when all of their friends decided to drop by. It is wonderful, noisy, fun and interesting – always interesting. Oh yeah, and you’re happy when they leave ‘cause it’s quiet again.   See if you can find Elder Boehrer in the pictures.  It might be a little harder because he is not the tallest, just the oldest.
