Elder Boehrer working hard . . .?
We got this notice on our apartment door today telling us what to do to protect your apartment from burglars. That’s a little scary. We didn’t think there was a problem. So, we checked everything we are doing to keep ourselves and our apartment safe and we hope all is well, but it still makes you think. We have an alarm and a deadbolt and a knob lock plus a peephole. We’re never home during the day anyway, so not sure how a peephole would help
, but it’s good to have. The nice thing about our apartment is that we are in a place where we could hear someone coming down the stairs (hopefully). We got an alarm on our California residence and Bryan and Michael come check it weekly, but you always wonder. I know the Lord is with us ‘cause we’re doing what we need to do here and we have protected ourselves as much as we feel we can. That is what we have to do when we ask for the Lord’s help – do all we can, and then pray for guidance. “The Lord helps those who help themselves”. (Hope we’re helping ourselves
) We’re not really concerned, it was just an interesting notice to find on our door.
Today Elders Hill and Etter stopped by to pick up supplies and to use our computers. Before they left, Sister Gibbons teasingly told them they’d have to sing before we’d let them leave. The Elders play along so well with us. They are just good kids – ‘er young men. So, anyway, they sang “Come, Come Ye Saints” and it was probably the best version of that song that I have heard in a long time. Two young men singing a capella (without music) and staying right in tune. NOTE: The song “Come, Come Ye Saints” was written by William Clayton and was referring to the Saints trek across the plains to Utah. It is a song that is much loved and revered by the LDS members because it tells of the pioneers strength and perseverance in the face of adversity and how they will be rewarded.
