Traveling to Colorado Springs

Today, Sunday, is a day of rest.  We are visiting and enjoying the company of Roy’s brother and family.  We hope to visit the ward in the area.  Wherever you go, when you see a chapel, it seems like home.  So inviting.

Yesterday we continued our trek to Colorado Springs.  It was beautiful!!!  We stayed on I-70 between Grand Junction and Denver.  We traveled through Glenn Wood Canyon.  The vast landscape of green fields and grape vines are unbelievable.   We also traveled through White River Forest.   Along the way we stopped at a Rest Stop which had a bridge over the Colorado River. P1000212    P1000217   That is a fast moving river and it is very cold, nevertheless there were people kayaking and fishing.  There were many biking trails that were well used with people continuously riding bikes with their multi colored biking outfits – no helmets.  Guess that’s not the law in Colorado.  I had a good view from the bridge Flirt maleP1000219  Gosh, looks like I’m ready to fall off.   Roy, on the other hand, looks pretty good.  P1000222

For lunch we stopped at a Wendys (big surprise) in the town of Frisco.   It is one of those ski villages.  Beautiful!

We couldn’t  get enough of the scenary.  P1000224

I went shopping at Walmart.  It will be difficult to find the clothes that I need for the summers in Maryland.  I have to get used to the humid, hot summers – so cotton clothes, here we come!  I don’t think shorts will be what I will be wearing.Eye rolling smile  I’m getting used to having people look at me when we come into stores and restaurants.  They are interested in our badges and we enjoy explaining what they mean.  It’s a good feeling.

Finally, at around 5:00 we showed up at Roy’s brother’s house.   We love it so much here.  Not only is it family, but they make us feel at home.  In fact so at home, that Roy is already laying down and and relaxing.  He and Uncle Jerry can talk for hours.P1000227  My perfect sister-in-law, Myra.    P1000226   Our beautiful niece, Katherine.  P1000229

We will be at Jerry’s until Monday, then we start out again. Love it!
