We went through all of those states yesterday (April 26). I was unable to post anything because we didn’t get our internet until this morning.
Ohio was very busy, especially around Columbia. We got lost due to construction, so that kind of put a damper on things. W. Virginia people are so friendly. While waiting in line at the restroom in McDonalds (lunch, again), I met a woman who, with her friend, were leaving for a women’s conference in the southern part of W. Virginia. We talked about it and had a good time. She didn’t mention what my badge stood for, but we got to know each other.
We got into Maryland at 12:00 yesterday. It felt so good not only because we were on the last leg of our trek, but because we were in the state where we would be serving a mission for a year. It was exciting.
I have included some random pictures I took from the car window. I tried to show how beautiful the scenery is, but, you get the idea . . .
We drove straight to the Mission Office. We met with President Belliston and his wife and also one other Senior Missionary sister (Gosh, I am horrible with names – give me a few days). The Bellistons are very nice! Sister Belliston is so down to earth – my kind of person. President Belliston is a kind and humble man. He made it clear that Roy and I are much needed in this mission. We visited for a few minutes, then we left and went to our apartment. At the apartment we met up with Sister and Brother Gibbons. Wonderful people. So welcoming!! I have taken some BEFORE pictures of the apartment. I will send some AFTER pictures in a few days. We set up stuff today (Friday), but we still have more to do. It is very comfortable and everyone is so nice here in the apartment complex. The last picture is of the Gibbons. They have been so helpful. They are another Sr. Missionary couple who will be leaving in October. We are going to dinner tonight with President and Sister Belliston and the Gibbons (not sure who else). It will be nice to get to know the better.
Note: Still waiting for Bryan and Monica’s little boy to arrive. He has a stubborn streak like his Father. He’ll arrive when he is ready.
