First MTC Day (Missionary Training Center)

P1000132

“Lift your heart and rejoice, for the hour of your mission is come; and your tongue shall be loosed, and you shall declare glad tidings of great joy unto this generation.”

D&C 31:3

What can I say?  This has been an awesome day.  We were greeted by about 10 young missionaries who kindly took care of our bags.  They took them up to the room and made sure we carried nothing.  We  talked with each of them and they are so excited about their missions.  They were all going to either the Ukraine or Russia.  They were learning the language under a new program.  They are only in the MTC for nine weeks instead of twelve.  Being greeted by the young missionaries was so awesome for Roy and I because it reminded us of our children who have served missions.  It was like being home again with a bunch of excited boys.   As we walk the hallways, we see the sister missionaries and try to envision how it must have been for our daughter Jennifer.  She said she loved her mission and I can see why.

We left Janine’s about 9:30 this morning and arrived at the MTC about 10:30. After getting our luggage taken up to our PERFECT rooms, we went downstairs for orientation.  What a great group of Senior Missionaries.  Some of us are going to foreign lands, i.e., Russia, Cambodia, Argentina, Virgin Islands, and some are going to Maryland, Florida, Oregon, Wyoming, and two couples will be serving in the area where they live.  One couple found out about their mission and were asked to serve two weeks later.  They are here even before their official papers were sent out.

The food is sooooo goooood.  The only problem is there is too much.  We are really going to have to be careful.  I’ve never seen a bigger nor better buffet.  Yep, buffet Rachel – I know how much you enjoy them . . .

Between studying and going to meetings, we will not have a lot of time to update, but, I will do so as much as I can.  We leave the MTC April 19th and start our journey to Maryland.

“And for everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundred fold, and shall inherit everlasting life.”
