Training Begins

Today we started training the Mills to take over our service in the mission.  They are a YSA (Young Single Adult) senior couple, who are going to help out until the mission is able to get a permanent replacement for us.  We are waiting . . .

We went to lunch with the Mills and talked about all that is happening in the Maryland Baltimore Mission.IMG_5126  IMG_5127IMG_5128The Mills are serving the Baltimore area, right down town.  There are places in Baltimore that you don’t even want to get out of the car.  Very dangerous and most are blight areas and blue areas (high crime areas).  But mixed in with the low-income people there are many highly educated young people who are working on more than one degree.  They are lawyers, doctors, interns, CPAs, etc.  Education is very important to them, as it should be, but it can also get in the way of what is even more important and that is faith in what you can’t see and living your religion.  They are wonderful young people, but between too much education (?) and not enough education, there is a big divide.

Last night we went to the President’s home for dinner.  We so enjoy being with them and the Assistants.  President was unable to be home from his meetings in time for dinner, but we enjoyed ourselves. SmileIMG_5116IMG_5117IMG_5118IMG_5114IMG_5124IMG_5119IMG_5120IMG_5121IMG_5122IMG_5123IMG_5115
