Today we drove two children to church – Abraham age 8 and Abigale age 16. They are such good children. Their Dad is the one from Sur Lanka. It was kind of fun to have another eight year old boy in the car again. I forget how much they talk! On the way to picking them up, we drive right past John Hopkins Hospital. It is world renowned. Has ranked among the nations best hospitals. The place is huge. I think Elder Boehrer and I are going to have to take a tour around the hospital. I have heard of it before, but never seen it. There are so many sights to see around here. Fun!
I made the Elders, who are assigned to our ward, a brownie cake. I guess I am spoiling them, but I know they enjoy it!
Jesse Stevenson, the father in the Stevenson family who were baptized on June 16th, was given the Aaron Priesthood. NOTE: This is a level of the priesthood. The Aaronic Priesthood is “an appendage to the greater, or the Melchizedek Priesthood” (D&C 107:14). It is often called the preparatory priesthood. As a priesthood holder serves in the Aaronic Priesthood, he prepares to receive the Melchizedek Priesthood, to receive the blessings of the temple, to serve a full-time mission, to be a loving husband and father, and to continue in lifelong service to the Lord. It was a great day for him and his family.
He will also be given a calling in the church. NOTE: A calling is when you are given a job to do in the ward you are assigned to. This is not a paid position – none of the positions in the church are paid. Quite a day for a new member of the church. (In my June 16th post I called this family by the name of Woods. That is because that was Brittany’s (the Mom) name before she and Jesse got married on the 15th of June. I met her first, so I assumed that was the family’s last name).
Out newest Grandson, Jackson Bryan, was born on May 1st, while we were on our mission. Therefore, we have not met him yet. Today in church a family came in with five children, the youngest, a boy, with the cutest little face and the brightest red hair. Abigail and I had to hold him! It helped to cuddle that little guy. I am grateful for moments like that cause I think it’s Heavenly Father’s way of letting me hold a grandbaby.

Next week on Sunday Sister Boehrer and I will start teaching the temple preparation class. I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful decision that all these brothers and sisters are making, which is to have an eternal family. Wow, the gospel is so great.
