Shenandoah River and the Blue Ridge Mountains
Unbelievable Red Trees
Wilsons; Carlsons; Jones; Me; Clasens
Today we drove up to Front Royal which is at the base of Skyline Blvd. Skyline Blvd is a road which goes up the Blue Ridge Mountains and is covered with tons of trees and is incredibly beautiful. During this time of year is when the leaves change and they look like they are on fire. The trees with red leaves are unbelievable. The leaves in the mountains were not as beautiful this year, but in our area and on the drive up, they were bright yellow, red, rust and gold. Elder Boehrer was not up to all the walking today. NOTE: Elder Boehrer went to the doctor about his hip pain and we found out that his hip does not need to be replaced. It is arthritis that is inflamed. He goes in on Friday for a procedure that includes a cortisone shot which will take away the pain. With the shot and exercise, Elder Boehrer will be doing well.
Getting a debriefing about bears.
There are over 600,000 acres in the park and around a 1000 black bears.

One of the many overlooks on the drive up the mountain
Before we went on Skyline Drive we had a picnic next to the Shenandoah River, which is right below the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is the river which is in the James Stewart movie entitled “Shenandoah”. It tells of the fight between Virginia and West Virginia. They were divided over the Civil War.
Carlson’s Home for the Mission – Nice! (They are not in an apartment)
