The Hobbitt and New Year’s Eve

All Ready for our 3-D Movie!!!

IMG_2650

Tonight Sister Jones, myself and Sister Richards saw “The Hobbitt”.  It was two and a half hours long and it was GREAT!  Loved it!!  A must see!!!  Rolling on the floor laughing

Well Happy New Years!!! Elder Boehrer and I are staying home tonight, watching a movie, going to bed around 10:00, after we say “Happy New Year”!!! Yep, that’s the extent of our New Year’s celebration. Tomorrow morning we are having the Columbia Zone Missionaries over for breakfast and then we are going to see a movie. Probably that Bett Middler and Billy Chrystal movie. A relaxing day – hopefully.

Sunday 12/30/12 Jerry’s Birthday

It does not seem like 62 years ago my Dad came home in the middle of the afternoon that I had a new baby brother ,and I asked if he could send him back a get me a sister instead. Well I am sure glad that we kept him because he is my best friend and I love him a lot. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE BOTHER

We finally had a white Christmas, and it started on Monday and by morning we had a couple of inches.

Lately it seems like most of my time is looking for apartments for the 4 new senior couples coming in and the 13 sister missionaries and the 8 elders getting here starting on February 5, 2012.

I think to explain to someone what a mission is like the only thing I can say it’s like riding a bike you will never know until you try it. What a great feeling you get while serving the Lord and working with all these young Elders and Sisters.  [Elder Boehrer]

Another New Sister Missionary

The Temple is beautiful even in bad weather Laughing out loud

IMG_2643

Today Elder Boehrer and I went to a 10:00 a.m. temple session.  The weather was a winter mix – that means it was snowy and rainy.  Hey, we’re getting into the Maryland way of talking . . .Nerd smile  Anyway, it was supposed to snow, but did only slightly.  I don’t think the weatherman is ever right.

We have another new sister missionary.  Sister Kristen Orton.  As soon as Elder Boehrer and I met her we both thought “Gosh, she looks so familiar”.  Then it hit us, she looks like our daughter-in-law Tomica, Dan’s wife.  Elder Boehrer calls our daughter-in-laws ‘daughters of the heart’ and Tomica is certainly that to us.  We love her so much and Sister Orton I am sure will be one of our favorites.  Again, being on a mission is wonderful.  Rolling on the floor laughing

Ellicott City

The Three Shoppers

IMG_2626

Today Sister Jones, Sister Richards and myself went to see the Old Ellicott City.  It reminded me of Truckee, California, but more unique, not so many commercialized stores.  We went into stores that were built in the 1700s.  One woman had lived and owned one of the stores for fifty years.  It was interesting and fun.  We had a great time.

Gosh, they even have a place to read fortunes – been there forever.  Also a train track that runs above town.

A “Busy” Day in the Mission Office

What would we do without our missionaries?   They help us without even being asked, they are ALWAYS smiling and they even keep us entertained.  Elder Holmes thought we might be bored this afternoon so he made our day even better by ‘dancing’ for us – if you could call it that . . .Disappointed smile Ahhh, he really is normal.

Sister Jones had a deadline to meet and needed help in getting some excel spreadsheets put together.  It started to get more than she could handle, so sure enough, the missionaries to the rescue.  Elder Weeks worked for about an hour and got everything put together.  Yep, we love our missionaries!!!!

First BIG Snow on our Mission

http://youtu.be/zGdbvBtGXL4

If you want to see what we had today  in Ellicott City (our office), click on the link above.  It was so beautiful.  I have come to the conclusion that I enjoy the snow much more than the rain.  Of course, I haven’t had to dig out yet.  Flirt male

We were out of the office for a couple of days, due to the holidays, so we missed the mail delivery.  Well, when we got into the office this morning, this is what greeted us!  Wow!  And, this wasn’t all.  We got about ten packages later in the afternoon.  Such is a typical day in the Maryland Baltimore Mission when it comes to mail for our missionaries.

Christmas Day for Elder Boehrer and I

Sisters Riggs and Anderson, Josie, Me, Elder Boehrer, Elders Weeks and Holmes

P1030038

Well, our Christmas morning started out with just Elder Boehrer and I, so, we opened our gift to each other, because we already opened our gifts from our family, as we got them.  We couldn’t wait!  Elder Boehrer got me perfume which I have been wanting for a long time.  It’s called “Beautiful” by Estee Lauder.  I got him a practical gift, but he was very excited – an Oster Chopper.  There was a method to my madness.  Elder Boehrer makes the best salsa, but it is tedious to cut it all up, therefore, he doesn’t make it often.  Now, there are no excuses Be right back

CHRISTMAS MORNING

We set this up with music and pictures of our family and the mission

About 9:00 some missionaries from the Columbia Zone came over to eat donuts, hot chocolate, eggnog, and apple cider.  It was so much fun to sit and visit with each of them.  It made our Christmas one of the best ever.  Next to our family,  having the missionaries come spend time with us, was perfect. P. S. We are having them over for breakfast on New Year’s Day.

Elder Vargas – brand new – one our spanish speaking Elders
