I put some pictures of my beautiful grandchildren this Easter Day. We miss them, especially at church. I love seeing them dressed up in their Easter outfits. They are pretty special in my mind – a proud Grandma. We missed being with them on Easter morning so we do appreciate the pictures. Send a kiss Jenni didn’t get one yet of her family because Bailey was not feeling well and wouldn’t sit still for a picture of her in her Easter outfit– so I’ll put that on this week.

We had a wonderful meeting today at church.  The two talks that were given were inspiring and we learned so much!  It seems that just when you think you have the Gospel basics down, you learn something else.  Maybe that is why are taught the same principals over and over.  We need to have our mind refreshed.  Both speakers talked of the Atonement and what Christ went through for us.

(Elder Boehrer) Well last year we had Easter in Utah at Cindy’s cousin’s home. This year we ate at the Richard’s home, We had baked ham, potatoes, fried carrots, salad and fresh strawberry shortcake for desert.

Our lesson today was all but covered in the talks in Sacrament meeting. Being Easter Sunday you can guess that we were taught more about the Atonement. I taught about the Atonement in my lesson in the High Priest Group. I think I was able to cover it a little different and keep it interesting enough and have some good conversation in the group.

What great knowledge it is to know that Jesus loves us so much that He would die for our sins. I love the Lord and our Heavenly Father so much.

Michael’s girls – Taylor; Katherine and Lexy – so cute, of course.

Our P-Day

image            image

Today was Elder Boehrer and my P-Day and we actually rested and had a day of relaxing.  That is something we have not done for a long time.  We went shopping, came back to the apartment, watched a movie and took a nap – ahhhhhh, that was nice.

After dinner we went for a walk and saw a mother deer and her three fawns.  They are so beautiful.  They were right behind our apartment.  We also noticed that the trees are beginning to get buds on them.  Soon they will be full of bright green leaves.  We thinking that this time last year we were getting ready to leave for our mission.  By the time we got out here at the end of April, all of the trees were full of leaves.

When we walked tonight it was 57 degrees out.  I had not coat on and felt great.  I remember in California when it is 57 to me it was cold.  Guess we are in for a surprise when we get home.  It will seem really warm at 60 degrees.

We are skyping some of our children tonight, so that tomorrow it is not so hectic.  With five to connect with, between church and dinner at the Richards’, and the time difference, we find it easier to call the night before.

Sorrow and Zone Conference Day

Zone Leaders leaving for Zone Conference

IMG_4016

The President called today to say that one of the Elders’ sister had been killed.  She was ten years old.  She and a friend were playing with a gun and it went off.  The bullet lodged in her head and she passed away shortly thereafter.  The Elder was very close to his sister.  She was his only sister and he baptized her.  This Elder had just arrived in the field in March.  Even though he is not a Zone Leader, the President had his companion drive him to the conference so that he could tell him in person.  A death is never easy, but to know that we can see our loved ones again, helps a lot.  This young man’s family are strong and they will probably ask him to stay out in the mission.  Sometimes that is better.

As I said referred to in the above paragraph, today was Zone Conference for each of the mission Zone Leaders.  NOTE: A mission is divided into Zones; Districts;  and Areas.   The leadership consists of the President; the Assistants to the President; Zone Leaders; District Leaders; Trainers.  The Zone Leaders are trained and given instruction by the President and whomever he asked to teach.  They came into our office today to get the mission van so that they could all go together and save miles.  NOTE:  Each mission vehicle is allotted a certain number of miles.

It Must Be Spring–at least in California . . .

Today Sister Jones and I drove out to Urbana, Maryland to look at another apartment for the mission.  We love road trips, especially when it gives us a chance to see more of our mission.  Had a great time.  The countryside, even at the end of Fall, is so quaint and just as you would imagine a farm area would be.  The pictures don’t do the countryside justice, but it is a nice reprieve from the snow.

Going from this to this is nice.

Yep, Life is Good!

IMG_3041

I sure do love my companion!  We are serving a mission together and yep, we plan on Returning With Honor!  All five of our children served missions and we now understand what they did while serving.  It is not always easy, but worth it Winking smile
