I so enjoy talking to the parents of the missionaries. They are always so happy to hear any news of their son or daughter. I try to tell them how well their missionary is doing and to ease their mind when they are concerned. I well remember when our children were on their missions. It was so comforting to know that the mission was well aware of what was happening with them.
Today we had the parents of Elder Maxwell, who has only been out for about five weeks, come into the office to deliver his Christmas present. They are out here in Maryland visiting with relatives and asked if we would mind letting them drop off the gifts. When they called to say they were in town, Elder Boehrer and I went to the office to meet them. They loved hearing about how the mission works and what we do in the office. It is so nice for the parents to be able to get emails and see pictures of their missionaries. We certainly didn’t have that when our children were serving. Times have changed . . .
